When Worlds Collide…

In a past iteration of my life, I used to make jewelry.  In the current version, I make art.  Well, ok, that’s not exactly it:  some of my jewelry was art and some of my current art is jewelry.  Still, the two existences haven’t overlapped really. Even so, when the adorable itty bitty Bijou tiles came out together with just-right Bijou frame (here) and the question came up among CZTs “can I turn this into a necklace”, my reaction was that it was no big deal.  I could see about 3-4 ways to do it quickly and easily and several more complicated options.  Of course,...

3D Zentangle?

I finally broke open my 3Doodler (forgive the name – I didn’t pick it!) and, voila, tangling in three dimensions. I did a bunch of individual Opus “twigs” and attached them both on the same level and on different levels Pretty cool,...

Flippity Flop!

Two in one night! This is done in white Sakura Gelly Roll, highlighted with Zenstone, and shaded with a 6B on black Derwent paper. It’s about letter size. :-). I’m pretty happy with it for the most part. What do you think? Cheers, K2 P.S. Zentangle, white gel pen, ZIA, art, mooka, W-2, tipple, striping, isochor, Huggins, knightsbridge

Rhapsody in Blue?

What a gorgeous day it is today! The sky is a shimmering gentle blue, the sun is crystalline, and the humidity is finally gone, but it’s warm but not nasty. I’m still stuck with my messed up ankle but I’m in the back yard at least and was inspired by the beautiful day. Just as a reminder, there is no up, no down in Zentangle – and things are iften as, if not more, interesting in a different orientation. I hope your day is as beautiful! If not, tangle and make your own beauty!! Cheers, K2 P.S. tangles used: Cruffle (Sandy Doyle Hunter, CZT), Betweed (Z), and...

Touchstone, Zenstone

Touchstone: “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.” Muhammad Ali I do believe, strongly, that we are all called to help one another through this journey we call life.  I do some of the typical stuff: donate money, time, etc.  But my favorite, absolute favorite way of service is Random Acts of Art.  I don’t know who came up with the name but I read it and fell in love.  Who couldn’t use a little more art in their day?  A little visual pick-me-up for the daily grind?  Here’s my latest: A Zentangle tile I completed while on a 2...

In Search of… Shade

So, it’s about a million degrees here in Connecticut.  Ok, maybe not a million.  Maybe only a paltry few hundred thousand.  What?!  Only 95??!!  That is such a joke.  It was SO not 95 today it’s not funny.  Heck, it’s 9:30 at night and it’s still 82 in my office.  Ugh. But it got me thinking about shade.  Which, when it’s painfully bright and obscenely hot out, is a blessed, blessed thing.  Those 5-10 degrees and not having to squint make all the difference. And so does shading in your tangling.  (HA!  Yeah, it’s not all complaining about the...
